The Places We Go exhibition is a direct response to specific sites visited in South West Queensland throughout 2021. This body of work explores ways of reinterpreting light in the landscape through the act of painting. The en plein air experience provides a point of departure for the works that are subsequently developed in the studio. These works continue to seek new ways of extending perceptions of the landscape painting through representations of the landscapes as abstracted imagery. In the gallery setting these works continually invite the viewer to rethink their understanding of what landscape painting can represent.
